¶ 01 · The stops, in order

Where this route actually goes.

Each stop earns its nights. The quiz decides how long you stay in each, and whether a stop drops off entirely because it is not you.

Stop 01 · about 2 nights

Malé

The capital's packed streets and fish market lead to a lagoon‑studded atoll of local islands 30‑90 minutes out by boat, with harbours, jetties, turquoise shallows and surf peeling off Thulusdhoo's reef.

Good for · first landing, budget bases, surf, short trips
Stop 02 · about 2 nights

¶ 02 · Along the way

Picks that sit on this route.

From the Maldives file. Real places, filed by people who went, not scraped from a Top 10 list.

Do · Malé

Malé Fish Market

The northern waterfront market where dhonis unload the day's catch and tuna is auctioned. Busiest mid-afternoon into evening as the boats come back in.

Do · Malé

Islamic Centre visit, Malé

The gold-domed Grand Friday Mosque holds around 5,000 worshippers. Non-Muslim visitors can go in outside prayer times; sarongs are supplied free at the entrance for anyone under-covered.

Do · Malé

National Museum, Sultan Park

Housed in the former Sultan's Palace: royal regalia, the country's first printing press, and 11th-century temple statues predating the country's conversion to Islam. Open daily except Friday, 10am-4pm.

Do · Malé & Hulhumalé

Dolphin-watching cruise, Malé

A roughly 2-hour speedboat cruise out from Malé or Hulhumalé with a high claimed sighting rate for spinner dolphins. Several operators run the same route.

Eat · Malé

Masburi riha at Faseyha Point

A fiery curry of large tuna chunks (masburi), eaten with roshi, at a "sai hotaa" tea shop on Majeedhee Magu known specifically for this dish. Loud, local, mostly-male teashop atmosphere rather than a tourist-friendly cafe.

Eat · Malé

Malé Local Market

A produce and snack market a block from the fish market selling breadfruit chips, yams and homemade pickles, with a dried and smoked fish hall next door.

Eat · Hulhumalé

Redhan Beach Cafe

A local-vibe beachside cafe on Hulhumalé known for its Maldivian breakfast and a complimentary juice from the manager.

Eat · Baa · Dharavandhoo

DFC Restaurant

A clean, well-reviewed restaurant near Dharavandhoo's harbour serving authentic Maldivian dishes, with a small games corner (Scrabble, Uno, chess) for downtime between boat trips.
